“David”- brilliantly DUMB!!!How come this film is not banned????

Rs.260= tickets for 2

Rs. 45=car parking fee

Rs.60= one ice cream

What a waste of money!! I should have trusted my gut instinct. I read conflicting reviews about this new film and my favourite newspaper misled me! This is equal to my Sunday evening being ruined!

The movie has 2 well known stars ( god knows what they were doing in the film)

1. The movie depicts very blatantly a fanatic hindu outfit terrorising a pious Christian preacher and his family by accusing them of forced conversions. hence the protagonist “David’  who lives in Mumbai, is upset and goes about searching for a non existent truth.

2. The other ‘David’ lives in Goa and is the stereotype drunkard. He only drinks and drinks( why no censor, I wonder). The drinking is shown to the extent that he hallucinates about having conversations( supposedly soul searching ) with his dead father! His dead father’s spirit has the habit of getting inside the body of another and accompanying David for another drink ( sic). What is appalling is the spirit enters the body of a minor boy. David is seen drinking with the minor- now I wonder How DID THE CENSOR BOARD NOT OBJECT?

3. All through the movie the Goan drunkard David covets his friend’s girlfriend and is irritatingly advised by a woman friend  ( Tabu who has been dubbed by Deepa Venkat I think- it kills the soul of Tabu). David is so dumb that he has to get such ridiculous advice and he still doesn't understand, obviously as he is drunk-- is it supposed to tickle a funny bone ? GOD!!

4. A deaf and dumb girl – the heroine- is being mentioned like this- ‘ her speaker is out and so is her ./ her  incoming and outgoing is all wrong’ –  WHY DID THE CENSOR BOARD NOT OBJECT? IS THIS HOW WE REFER TO THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED ?

5. The guy who romances the heroine has a confession to make t the drunkard David- I actually fell in love with her at the first sight but I did not want to reveal because , you see, I have to keep up an image na”  SHOCKING, SHOCKING!! WHAT ON EARTH WAS BEJOY NAMBIAR ( THE DIRECTOR) DOING WHEN HE WAS DIRECTING THIS PORTION? WHO WROTE THESE LINES?

What image was he talking about? A drunkard who plays the friend of another drunkard? And is it beneath our normal selves to fall in love with the differently abled?

SUCH CRASS LINES AND INHUMAN, HEARLTESS DEPICTION OF A DEAF AND DUMB GIRL!!

6. The reviews boasted that the film was on 2 different Davids and the twist in the tale is how their lives are intertwined! Now did I expect a Sherlock Holmes twist? My bad!!

The Mumbai David who undergoes a transformation (sic) and plays the role of the Priest who conducts the wedding of the heroine with the drunkard David's friend( Peter is his name). This is the TWIST!!. Great suspense is it not? And the Climax dialogue – Priest David to the drunkard David- ;You are lucky, for very few have the name David, there are many Peters in the world, but very few Davids who undergo pain and know to take pain’ Drunkard David-‘ What is your name Father?’

The Priest with a classic enigmatic smile,’ David’. The drunkard very surprised ( as if he has never heard of another human possessing the name), David?’ The priest walks off into the horizon.

7. Do you think this is the end ? Of course not! The eternal drunkard is again drunk and is shown laughing and crying over his lost love (sic). Did the director think this was soulful? And the movie ends with his favourite past time- he goes around kicking and slapping newly weds after donning a Santa Claus mask!!!! HOW DID THE CENSOR BOARD ALLOW THIS?

Review: THE MOVIE IS NOT WORTH IT EVEN IF YOU LEAVE YOUR BRAINS OUTSIDE. IT IS DISGUSTING.
