learnings

Another year has flown by, another dawn has come. Another learning happens. Another..... Thats life. Life rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the best moments are when your teenage son hugs you; when you watch the best of movies with him; when you feed him and when you just fool around with him  

Be fit to enjoy good food at all times!!

When you are sick make use of the time to relax totally, listen to soft music and sleep a lot. It is your body's mechanism to tell you to take a break.  If you are lucky enough to get pampered and fussed about lie down and enjoy it. 'Rasam' , ginger tea, rice gruel is yummy when laced with lotsa love!!

Its a wonderful feeling to have your teenager in your arms sleeping peacefully just like old times!!!

It is wonderful to unwind with old friends. Time stands still. Words flow. Hearts beat as one! The child in you returns and your joy is complete!!!

Is Newton's theory of relativity relevant when I am awaiting my son's arrival after 6 months??????

When others hurt you think that they are like sandpaper! At the end of it sandpaper will leave you polished, having worn itself out!!!

Death is inevtiable. Its a terrible loss when someone dies but its a greater tragedy if we die within when we are alive!!!!

It's amazing that we take immense care about planning for a party or even a game but we do not seem to be doing so about out own lives!!

The difference between a successful man and one who is not : the successful man does while the other only decides to do.

Listen to your body. It will tell you when it needs rest. I appreciate the Spanish 'siesta'! A good sleep in the noon refreshes the mind, body and soul! No wonder cats live long!  It's exam time so I am home at noon and yes I am addcted to this short stint of siesta during this season!! 

Invigilations, paper corrections.. oh its exam time! My colleague asked me how I could be so cheerful! I told her with a smile that when you love your work, work becomes joy- simple, pure joy!

When you have to stand up, stand TALL!!

Some people enjoy  being a martyr. Let them be!! Some love to be constantly unhappy. Let them be! Some love to whine and whine. Let them be!! If ever god forbid you interfere, it will be like an albatross hanging around your neck! Life is too good to be wasted so!!!!

Sometimes I wonder if I can trust my own shadow!! Why is there so much hypocricy among adults? It is best to maintain any relationship with a pinch of salt. 

Sometimes we should do Nothing!!  Its heavenly doing nothing on a Sunday!!

There are people who feel guilty about being happy!! Being alive is a good reason for me to be happy,for there's so much to be done, so much to more to experinece and so much more to love!! so I do not feel guilty about being happy.  Let go and be HAPPY.  YOU deserve it!!!

EVEN THIS WILL PASS!  We,at Chennai, are experiencing cyclone NISHA. A while ago trees were swaying wildly, the rain at its angry best and the wind at its infuriating best. Now its so calm that one wonders and blinks to confirm that all the above did happen a while ago!!! So also will life's downs give way to ups!

Dont do what is convenient. DO WHAT IS RIGHT!!

I met the PERSON who gave me the BEST GIFT- books! If I have tavelled into unknown realms and visited Atlantis and live in Utopia its all because of this uncle. Today if my son says he is reading books on management its because of this uncle. Today if I am kindling the passion for reading among the youth its because of this uncle.  After years I visited him for he said he was dying. With trepidation I entered his home and to my utter surprise he was as charming and witty as ever, so full of beans!!!!!!!!  He wanted a peg of rum and when I asked him why he should drink in the present condition. With a twinkle in his eye he told me,'give me one good reason why I should not? You are here and I have to celebrate!' This is a person with Parkinsons disease, severe arthiritis, cataract and a host of problems!!  He gave me the best gift when I was small, my FIRST BOOK and so many more. Today he taught me a valuable lesson- LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST, CELEBERATE LIFE!!

To reach the pinnacle.. you need to know 3 things - Persevere, Persevere, Persevere!!! A lesson I learnt today from my son. He is teaching  me to be very IT- SAVVY!!!!!!!

Role play is not to be ignored!. I realised I am talking to walls when I was preaching to children on not picking up bits of paper lying around. I set into action.  I never spoke about it for some time. I began to make it very OBVIOUS- to pick up the bits of paper lying around. Very soon a few came up to me saying that they have started doing the same. I cannot explain this heady feeling!!!

Its not passion that will set you on the journey to success but the 'burning desire' otherwise known as obsession. 

Ah I missed a few days of blogging but never stopped learning!!  I hate  bullying. Bullying between peers is bad but an adult bullying a child is loathsome. It was shocking to see a teacher preventing a young boy from singing and playing his guitar in front of an audience. It was Children's Day in India on friday. The young ones had assembled in the auditorium for a brief function. Children were prety restless and a young boy was asked to entertain the audience. This boy is brilliant. He sang popular numbers and the children were enjoying. I do not understand why some do not know how to handle power! This senior teacher walks up and prevents the boy from singing, then goes on to threaten the little kids and above all calls some of the bigger children( who had come to watch their friend sing) as DANGEROUS. If this is not bullying then what is...... dangerous? in what sense? In the name of discipline one should not terrorise children!!!  I thought only terrorists were dangerous!!!!

Music can lift you.....

Once my mentor said that the whole world craves for love. World over, people do not mind going to bed without food but none like to go to bed starving for love. Today when I paid attention to a student( normally very shy) and gave him words of encouragement on his replies, I was stunned when he came up to me and said,' Thank you mam for asking me the questions. Thank you for acknowledging me. No one even remembers  that I Exist'!!!

Today my colleague cried on my shoulder. Her cousin is dying. i was at a loss for words.. all i gave her was my hug and my ear.. It helped!!

Two minuses make a plus. So all negative things can be made positive by our positive attitude and smart work!!!
